In 2010 I was asked to Color some models at the L'oreal Academy for the Color Trophy tour. I was told to lighten this models hair just up to a line then stop. This was the birth of Ombre - or Dip Dye. Over the years this has evolved and softened into the color we are doing today.

It is the most requested training that people ask me to teach. Balayage is the french word meaning 'to sweep'. It's freehand paint on color and is very unique to each client.

The hardest thing for hairdressers that love full head foils and the structure of the sectioning pattern is that this is all visual... there is no right way or wrong way.
